Edit Yard Section form
A yard section is a group of side-by-side stacks (or stacked tier groups) for containers that represents one row in the yard. You use the Yard Section form to make changes to an existing yard section.
You can only edit certain properties of a yard section, such as the roadway column, access columns, and whether the section extends an opposite block for containers of a certain length.
By default, N4 sets a yard section to a length of 20 foot. If the Lengths Allowed field for a section is set to Only 40', 45', or if the block type is straddle grid or chassis, N4 sets the section length to 40 foot.
To add yard sections, use the Yard Sections form (on page 1).
To edit a yard section:
In the Yard Sections view (on page 1), double-click a yard section.
In the Yard Section form, edit any of the following:
Roadway Column: Enter one of the following values to specify the column near or adjacent to a roadway:
4 or last column number for roadway access near the last column
3 or first column number for roadway access near the first column
2 for two roadways near the first and last columns, that is for roadways on both sides
If the first or last column for a section is 2, then two-sided access is not possible unless you create an inactive dummy section so that the first or last column number does not coincide with 2.
Door Direction: Select one of the following values to specify the default door direction of positions in the section relative to the direction of the block. The direction of the block is set in the Display tab (on page 1) of the Stack Block form in the N4 Yard Editor. Note that the cardinal direction for the Door Direction field on any individual Unit Facility Visit (UFV) is derived in relation to the direction of the block and the default door direction pattern.
See the Door Direction Pattern table (on page 1) for illustrations.
EITHER - Indicates that no door direction restriction applies. This is the default value. When this value is used, a container's current door direction in XPS will be displayed as FWD or AFT, instead of the block level direction, which would be indicated as N, S, E, or W.
ALT1 - Defines an area with towers and sets the container door direction in the opposite direction of its tower. N4 uses its logical number scheme, places a tower at the logical spot number 2, and adds a tower at every third spot to the end.
ALT2 - Defines an area with towers, and sets the container door direction in the same direction as its tower. XPS uses its logical number scheme, places a tower at the logical spot number 1, and adds a tower at every third spot to the end. ALT2 is appropriate for terminals with an inspection area and where inspectors must have access to the contents of the containers (doors on the outside of a pair of containers).
EVEN - Places the containers in even-numbered logical slots so that the door faces the next stack up (ascending logical number). This setting also sets the doors for containers in odd slots to face the next slot down (descending logical number).
ODD - Places the containers in odd-numbered logical slots so that the door faces the next stack up (ascending logical number). This setting also sets the doors for containers in even slots to face the next slot down (descending logical number).
OPPOSITE - All containers in the specified row(s) are positioned with door sides facing the adjacent slot with the logical, descending number.
SAME - All containers in the specified row(s) are positioned with door sides facing the adjacent slot with the logical, ascending number.
Lengths Allowed: Select one of the following values to specify the allowed container lengths for this yard section:
All: Allows 20', 40' and 45' containers.
Any: Allows 20', 40' and 45' containers.
Even: Allows both 20' and 40' containers, but limits 40's to even-numbered logical rows.
None: No containers can be placed in that yard section.
Odd: Allows both 20' and 40' containers, but limits 40's to odd-numbered logical rows.
Only 20': Allows only 20' containers.
Only 40', 45': Allows only 40' and 45' containers.
When you modify any values in the Lengths Allowed area, the Yard Editor propagates these changes to all of the yard section's children yard stacks.
Access Blocked at First Column: Select this check box if the path to this section is blocked at the first column.
Access Blocked at Last Column: Select this check box if the path to this section is blocked at the last column.
<Length> Extends Opposite Block: Select any of these check boxes if the section extends the opposite block for containers of a specific length.
